Microsoft offers web browser choice to Internet Explorer users

Microsoft agreed to give Windows users a choice of internet browser.

Millions of European Internet Explorer (IE) users will have the option to choose an alternative browser from 1 March 2010, Microsoft has announced.

It follows a legal agreement between Microsoft and Europe's Competition Commission in December 2009.

Google phases out support for IE6

Microsoft say support for IE6 will continue for the next four years

Google has begun to phase out support for Internet Explorer 6, the browser identified as the weak link in a cyber attack on the search engine.

The firm said from 1 March some of its services, such as Google Docs, would not work "properly" with the browser.

It recommended individuals and firms upgrade "as soon as possible".

Google loses battle for groovle.com

Internet giant Google.com has lost an arbitration case over the domain name Groovle.com. In a decision released today, The National Arbitration Forum, dismissed Google’s complaint which claimed that it was entitled to the domain name Groovle.com. Google claimed that the domain name  is “confusingly similar” to its trademark for “Google”.
